Michael Roldan facing up to 7 years in prison and sex offender registry status MINEOLA, N.Y. – Acting Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas announced the trial conviction today of a San Juan man for sexually abusing an 11-year-old boy in Levittown in 2012. Michael Roldan was convicted in a bench trial today of Sexual Abuse in the 1st Degree (a D violent felony) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (an A misdemeanor). He was found not guilty of Criminal Sexual Act in the 1st Degree (a B violent felony). He faces a maximum sentence of seven years in prison when he returns to court on Nov. 13 before Acting Supreme Court Justice Teresa Corrigan, who remanded him to jail pending sentence. Roldan will be required to register as a sex offender when he is released from prison. "This defendant abused an 11 year-old child and I'm glad a judge saw through his defense and convicted him of this despicable crime," Acting DA Singas said. “I commend the members of my Special Victims Bureau who worked hard to ensure that this defendant is held accountable for his crime.” Acting DA Singas said that Roldan, a 42-year-old flight attendant and resident of San Juan, Puerto Rico, was found guilty of subjecting an 11-year-old boy to sexual contact on July 28 and 29 of 2012 at a home in Levittown where both he and the boy, to whom he is not related, were visiting. The defendant had originally been arrested on November 15, 2012 and charged with the A misdemeanor crime of Sexual Abuse in the 2nd Degree. After further investigation by the Special Victims Bureau of the District Attorney’s Office, the charges were upgraded and an indictment was issued charging Roldan with the more serious felony offenses. Assistant District Attorney D.J. Rosenbaum of Acting DA Singas’ Special Victim’s Bureau is prosecuting the case. Roldan is represented by Samuel Rieff, Esq.
